OIL, GAS, & CHEMICALS

METERING SYSTEMS
Metering Systems for Custody transfer applications are considered by Technics to be a one channel blender. That is there must be an accurate measurement and analysis system in place. But custody transfer systems have an added caveat.
Whenever petroleum changes custody from one supplier to the next, it must be accurately measured and custodians and regulatory agencies both have an interest in making sure that transactions are equitable. This includes knowledge of the quality of product being transferred. And the necessity to suspend operation if restrictions on characteristics such as water content are not met.

These systems take a wide variety of forms whether they are used for refined product at terminals, crude oil in pipelines and at the well head, or for LPG or Gas applications.

Measurement devices include ultrasonic, turbine, and coriolis mass flow meters. Each of these devices has advantages and disadvantages distinct for the application. Technics is well versed in all of them and will always select the best method based on economy and performance.

As mentioned, it’s not just the amount of product transferred but its quality as well, Technics can incorporate sampling and analysis systems to measure a wide variety of characteristics.

There is also matter of conformance to standards and a satisfactory method of calibration known as proving. Technics can supply master meters both portable and inline. We also can supply volume provers both spherical and piston.
