Water Hammer & Collision Simulation Test Stands
These test stands are designed to induce a rapid pressure pulsation on a test subject. Water Hammer is the phenomenon that occurs when there is a rapid stoppage of flow velocity, such as when a valve closes rapidly. It can produce very high transient pressures on upstream components. Vehicle collisions can cause the same rapid pressure increases during a collision. It is a transient event with the vents quickly discharging. The key to a successful machine is twofold. One, the induced pressure spike cannot be excessive and two, the test stand itself cannot be subject to these pressure spikes, else its own components fail.
Technics has test stands capable of inducing pressure spikes within 20mS while surviving millions of cycles.
Conditioned Refueling Systems
Billions of us are experts at vehicle refueling, but few understand that the ever-changing architecture of vehicle fuel tanks requires testing for proper fill and emissions control. Spit-back and premature shutoffs are no longer acceptable.
Technics’ line of conditioned refueling systems provides variable flow and temperature-controlled gasoline, diesel, and bio-fuel fill simulation. Our systems provide complete fill performance analysis with high-speed recording of tank pressure during filling and auto-shutoff, Simulation of factory fill, Variable vapor recovery based on flow ratio or vacuum, and Tank Deflection recording with displacement transducers
Pressure/Vacuum Cycling
Imparting a pressure/vacuum to large volume components such as vehicle fuel tanks can be a difficult task. The machine must produce high enough flow to reduce time while maintaining a precise pressure/vacuum at very low levels.
Technics has expertise in systems where flammable vapors are used. Our unique design is a completely closed loop that eliminates the need to vent vapors and, in fact, has a mechanism to coalesce these vapors back to liquid form.
Flow Test Stands for Performance and Calibration
Flow Testing Rigs provide for controlled flow independent of pressure and normally include thermal conditioning for both heat input and removal. Precise temperature control is most often a requirement for these tests.
Technics systems can be used in production operations for both validation and calibration of pressure control devices and metering systems
Pressure Test Stands for Fatigue
Pressure Fatigue Testing imparts both pressure and vacuum on small and large test parts. Frequencies are adjustable and can be as high as 100 Hz. Our test rigs have been proven robust with 10’s of millions of cycles completed without failure or maintenance. Our multi-unit systems use a phase offset to conserve energy and reduce heating.
Pressure Test Stands for Leak and Burst
Burst Testing Systems can be retrofitted to your existing test bench and include programmable profiles for ramp & soak. These systems include leak testing at various stages up until burst.
Our expertise runs from inches of water columns to over 400 Bar.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a conditioned refueling system?
A conditioned refueling system is a mobile fuel delivery package designed to control both fuel temperature and flow rate during refueling or specialty test activity. These systems are integrated packages for precision temperature and rate-controlled fuel delivery.
What are Technics pressure and flow test stands used for?
Technics’ pressure and flow test stands are used for performance, fatigue, burst, leak, vacuum, and flow testing. These rigs are built for demanding applications and can precisely impart and monitor pressure, vacuum, flow, and temperature
What media can Technics test stands be designed for?
These systems can be designed for a variety of chemicals ranging from deionized water to liquid fuels and solvents.
What is a flow testing rig?
Technics’ flow testing rigs are systems that provide controlled flow independent of pressure and typically include thermal conditioning for both heat input and heat removal. These rigs can be used in production operations for validation and calibration of pressure control devices and metering systems.
What is a pump performance test stand?
Pump performance test stands analyze the electrical characteristics of the drive motor through variable speed drives while varying fluid temperature and pressure. The systems vary pump speed and record operating data to give users precise test results.
What is a pressure fatigue test stand?
Technics’ pressure fatigue systems impart both pressure and vacuum on small and large test parts. Frequencies are adjustable and can reach 100 Hz, and our rigs are designed to be robust enough to significantly outlast the units under test.
What is a burst testing system?
Burst testing systems are used to apply pressure profiles until a component fails, often while also checking for leakage beforehand. Technics’ systems can be retrofitted to an existing test bench and can include programmable ramp and soak profiles plus leak testing at various stages up until burst.
What pressure range can Technics test systems cover?
Technics’ expertise ranges from inches of water column to over 400 bar, covering very low-pressure through high-pressure testing applications.
How does Technics handle testing where flammable vapors are present?
Technics has expertise in systems where flammable vapors are used and provides a completely closed-loop design that avoids venting vapors and includes a mechanism to coalesce vapors back to liquid form.
